Energy and Emissions Data
Energy and emissions data are presented in the following table:
Energy and Emissions Commentary
During the reporting period from 1st of July 2023 to 30th of June 2024, Unisurge International Limited continued its focus on reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Total energy consumption for the year was 8,473,328 kWh, representing a 6.36% increase compared to the previous year’s figure of 7,966,873 kWh.
Total Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions amounted to 1793 tonnes of CO2e, a 1.01% increase from last year’s total of 1775 tonnes CO2e.
Natural gas emissions for 2024 show a reduction of 2.62% over 2023.
Electricity emissions for 2024 show a reduction of 8.25% over 2023.
Transport fuel emissions for 2024 show an increase of 7.82% from 2023.
The intensity ratio has improved compared to last year. It decreased from 38.27 tonnes of CO2 per £M turnover last year to 37 tonnes of CO2 per £M turnover this year. This indicates that a company is generating more revenue per unit of greenhouse gas emissions, meaning it operates in a more environmentally efficient manner. The lower the ratio, the less carbon the company emits relative to its economic output.
For the first time, Unisurge International Limited have begun reporting partial Scope 3 emissions, specifically for freighting goods (Upstream transportation and distribution).
Partial Scope 3 Emissions
During the reporting period, Unisurge International Limited have introduced the reporting of partial Scope 3 emissions for the first time, specifically focusing on emissions from freighting goods (Upstream transportation and distribution).
These Scope 3 emissions amounted to 1133 tonnes of CO2e, providing a more comprehensive view of their overall carbon footprint. Unisurge International Limited is actively working to reduce Scope 3 emissions by sourcing from local suppliers and planning to explore reforestation initiatives for carbon balancing.
This category was not included in previous reports, so to ensure consistency in year on year comparisons, we are continuing to provide a breakdown of Scope 1 and 2 emissions separately. We have also designated 1st of July 2023 to 30th of June 2024, as the baseline year for partial Scope 3 emissions reporting and will continue to expand reporting on these emissions in future years.
